Klein Thanksgiving Invitational

Format:

U8-U10 Recreational & Academy: The basic format for the tournament will be a 3 game round robin with all U9/U10 teams playing the 6v6. Round robin play will be single elimination with quarterfinals and semi-finals where applicable. U8-U10 games are two (2) – 20 minute halves with all finals played at regulation time for the appropriate age group. Brackets with 5 teams have a 4 game round robin and final standings are based on 1st & 2nd highest points. For the teams in round robin play, ties at the end of regulation time will stand. For quarterfinal and semi final games, the taking of FIFA penalty kicks will break ties at the end of regulation, and no overtime periods will be played. If a U8-U10 championship game is tied at the end of regulation time, then two 5 minute overtime periods will be played, there is no sudden death (“Golden Goal”) during these overtime periods. If at the end of both overtime periods the score is tied then the winner will be determined by FIFA penalty kicks.

U11-U19 Bracket: The tournament will offer 8v8 only in the U11/U12 Brackets.

U11-U12 games are two (2) – 25 minute halves with all finals played at regulation time for the appropriate age group. Finals will be held late Saturday and Sunday. Brackets with 5 teams have a 4 game round robin and final standings are based on 1st & 2nd highest points. U13-U19 games are two (2) – 30 minute halves with all finals played at regulation time for the appropriate age group. Finals will be held late Saturday and Sunday. Brackets with 5 teams have a 4 game round robin and final standings are based on 1st & 2nd highest points. For the teams in round robin play, ties at the end of regulation time will stand. For quarterfinal and semi final games, the taking of FIFA penalty kicks will break ties at the end of regulation, and no overtime periods will be played. Fee Schedule: U7/U8 $250 U9/U10 $300, U11/12 (8v8) $400, U13 – U19 $500

Guest Players & Rostered Players: Three guest players are allowed per team. The tournament committee will make exceptions on a case by case basis. Open rosters are not allowed. Guest players must be in good standing and registered with STYSA or another USYS Affiliated State Association. All guest players must have the appropriate documentation and be noted on the Fall 2013 roster of the team in which they will guest. Players may not play down to a lower age group. Players may only play for one team during the tournament. If a guest player’s team is participating then the player must play for his regular team and not the guest team.  

Schedules: Will be posted at:

 www.kleinsoccerclub.org. Tournament committee reserves the right to alter game times in order to complete the tournament. Please continue to check game schedules on the website.

Game Start Times: Games will begin at the scheduled time. Pre-game warm up must take place before game start time. The tournament committee may restructure or cancel the tournament due to inclement weather. A refund less administrative expenses will be issued in the event of cancellation. 

Scoring: Scoring is based on a 10 point system, 6-3-0 for win-tie-loss, one point for each goal up to three, regardless of the game result. One point is awarded for a shutout.

A forfeit will count as 6 points to the winning team. One point will be deducted for each red card or three yellow cards to a team in one game. Three yellow cards received by the same player over 3 games will be considered a red card and treated as such. Any coach or player receiving a red card will not be allowed to participate in the next game, at a minimum. The nature of the ejection will determine the duration of the suspension.

 Score Reporting: The winning coach or team representative, or home coach in case of a tie, must bring the game report to the official score keeper within 1 hour of completion of a game. The Meyer Park scorekeeper will be at the Klein Soccer Clubhouse. A missing game report or a game report that is turned in more than 1 hour after completion of a game will be recorded as a loss and zero points for both teams. Referees are required to report all disciplinary actions taken before, during and after the game on the game report.

Tie Breaker: If two teams are tied at the end of the Friday/Saturday games, the tie will be broken as follows:

  1. Head to Head
  2. Team with most total wins
  3. Goal difference (total goals for minus total goals against; Maximum 3 goals scored or allowed per game)
  4. Total goals scored (total goals for; NO LIMIT on goals scored per game)
  5. Fewest team penalty points (red card = 3, yellow card = 1)
  6. FIFA penalty kicks.

 Protests: No protests allowed. Field Marshall or Tournament Director will resolve any problems.

 Check-in: Coach Team check-in is mandatory. Check in will be held on Friday, November 29th  from 6pm to 8pm at the Klein Soccer Club house in Meyer Park located at 7700 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX 77379.

 Information required at check-in:

  • Medical Release Forms
  • Signed, Laminated player cards with player photograph
  • Certified roster signed by club registrar
  • Travel permits for teams outside of STYSA

No player is permitted to play on your team that is not presented on the roster during check-in. 

Laws: Current FIFA Laws of the game except substitutions. There is unlimited substitution at any stoppage of play at the discretion of the referee. No player shall play for more than one team. Any coach or player receiving 2 yellow cards or 1 red card must leave the field immediately or the game will be subject to forfeiture. Such coach or player shall be prohibited from participating in the following game. A second such offense will result in elimination from all additional participation in the tournament. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of the team and spectators. Meyer Park is a zero tolerance park.

 Uniforms: The first team listed on the schedule is the home team and must change jersey colors if deemed necessary by the referee. Each player’s uniform should have an easily identifiable number.

 Home Team Rights/Responsibilities: The home team is the first team listed in a pairing or top team in a playoff tee. Home team must provide the game ball and score card for all games. Home team must change jersey colors if deemed necessary by the referee.

 Team and Player Credential Check: Each team must be able to present its validated roster and players cards to a Tournament Official or the Referee team before the start of each match, if requested. If a player plays in a game and is not properly registered, the team will automatically forfeit that game and may face further penalties as determined by the Tournament Director and/or Home Association. The wearing of hard casts, whether padded or not, will not be permitted at any time.

 Refunds: There will be no refunds for withdrawal unless a suitable replacement team can be substituted. In the event that the tournament must be cancelled, a portion of the entry fee will be retained to cover startup costs.
